Paediatrics - The Issa Trust Foundation works to serve the children of Jamaica and train local medical providers while providing opportunities for US-based medical professionals to experience a clinical care setting abroad and give freely of their time and expertise. In July of 2010, we launched a new program, the first-ever Paediatric medical rotation program in Jamaica, in partnership with Jamaica’s Northeast Regional Health Authority. The rotation will involve two Paediatric doctors per month, 12 months out of the year. Volunteers will provide direct care to and supervise the care approximately 20,000 children per year. This will require a five-year systematic, progressive effort in patient treatment, training of medical, administrative, and technical personnel. At the end of the five years, we intend, in cooperation with Ministry of Health for the North East Region to review continued efforts.
Medical Education - Issa Trust Foundation, in association with medical providers from Philadelphia and Jamaica created a Paediatric education program. The objectives are to engage and serve Paediatric medical providers through education, training, and research, establishing evidenced based practice, excellence in professional skills and unity in a global community, which cooperatively and passionately participates in advancing Paediatric training. Objectives also include improving the health and wellbeing of the children of Jamaica through community based education about child health and safety.
Medical Missions - The Issa Trust Foundation has conducted annual medical missions since 2005, and has served thousands of children in the St. Mary and Westmoreland parishes. The organization plans to continue collaborating with clinics and local organizations in Jamaica to identify health needs, set health priorities for their community and facilitate collaborative strategies to make parishes in Jamaica a healthy place to live.
Education of our children is the key to a successful future. We know firsthand that the workforce of tomorrow must be equipped with the right tools for success today. That is why marketable skills gained through effective education are a key objective for The Issa Trust Foundation.
