Register- Red Ribbon Run 2013

Each December 1 the global community pauses to remember those who have been infected and affected by HIV/AIDS; assess current treatment and prevention programmes and raise awareness among populations that the disease is still an ever present aspect of our public health landscape. This year, the Grata Foundation in partnership with Population Services Jamaica, a networking member of Population Services International, will again host a 5K road race on World AIDS Day– Sunday, December 1, 2013 at King’s House beginning at 7 am.

The focus of this year’s road race is on national efforts to end mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDs in Jamaica, with a further focus on women and girls infected with or affected by HIV and AIDS. Part proceeds from this year’s event will be directed towards the Mustard Seed communities to provide direct financial support to the invaluable work of that organization. As you may be aware, they are the only children’s home focused on delivering services to children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. Their successes include the fact that a majority of their wards survive unto adulthood.

The Red Ribbon Run will be held thanks to the generous support of Cari-Med through their RoughRider and Durex condom brands, along with the Got it?Get it. campaign, a regional PSI initiative promoting sexual and reproductive health in the Caribbean.
