Starting this September, the Voluntary Organisation for the Upliftment of Children (VOUCH) will begin its transformation into a state-of-the-art facility for the assessment of children with special needs at the early childhood level.
The welcomed change is expected to re-position the non-governmental agency as the only highly equipped centre for assessment diagnostic and therapeutic centre for the early childhood sector. Beneficiaries will receive proper diagnosis, timely assurance, as well as therapy for parents and teachers among other things. The Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA) recently donated 10 computers valued at $600,000 to VOUCH. Speaking at the official handing over, Education Minister Ronald Thwaites expressed his confidence in the expected improvements to the early childhood sector from the project.
