Here at Crayons Count, we appreciate every donation, words of support, time and energy YOU have given to Crayons Count. This time, we want to take a insider look at the volunteers behind Crayons Count.

We call them the ‘Crayons Count Crew’ and this is the Crayons Count Crew Series.

Let’s take a peek into what it feels to be a part of the Crayons Count Crew with N. Miller from the Loving Arms Youth Club

How did you first hear about Crayons Count?

I heard about Crayons Count through my youth group, Loving Arms Youth Club.

How did you get involved in volunteering with Crayons Count?

The group that I am involved with Loving Arms Youth Club volunteered at some of Crayons Count events.

What event did you first get involved with and how many since?

I first volunteered for Crayons Count at a Food for the Poor Family Fun Day that was held at Hope Zoo in 2012.

Why volunteer at Crayons Count?

Because Crayons Count is an organization that provides children with the educational supplies that we normally take for granted. What could be better than giving?

Name your favorite tool in the learning kit and why?

I consider the crayons as one of my favourites because it  allows creativity with the different colours while exercising imagination for the children

In your estimation, which tool is the most favorite of the children and why do you think so?

I think the preferred tool among children is the play dough because they can bring their imagination to life through sculpting and it also exercises their little arms. Smiles

Describe the children you have interacted with at Crayons Count and how they react to the tools.

The children that I have interacted with were very hyperactive, therefore the tools that were provided for them created a form of activity where they could channel their hyperactivity in a positive way.

What has been the most fulfilling moment/s you have experienced working with Crayons Count?

The most fulfilling thing about working with Crayons Count is just being around the children and other volunteers and seeing how appreciative they are of the tools from the Learning Kit.

Would you volunteer again and why?

Yes I would volunteer for Crayons Count again because of the interaction that it provides.

If you had five words to sum up your time with Crayons Count, what would they be?

Fulfilling, Interactive, Sacrificial, Educational, and Adventurous

Why do you think more people should volunteer?

I think more people should volunteer for Crayons Count because they would receive the same fulfillment that I received knowing that they are doing something great for children which will result in a better Jamaica.
